Moray Web Header
Moray district is part of Grampian Region in the North East of Scotland. To make it easier for tourists and visitors to Moray and to organise this guide, we have divided the area into three distinct areas.
Sitting on the Moray Firth are the Moray Coast Towns, which include Findhorn, Lossiemouth and Cullen.
The inland Market Towns are linked by the A96 road and include Forres, Elgin, Fochabers and Keith.
The Speyside Towns include Rothes, Aberlour and Dufftown. We have also grouped Fochabers in this as the River Spey runs alongside Fochabers.

Map of Moray

When it comes to malt whisky, single malts from the whole of Moray are described as Speyside Malts. In fact all the inland market towns and Speyside towns could be classified as whisky towns, (perhaps with the exception of Fochabers - known for its food). Most towns have at least one distillery among its visitor attractions. Moray is a dream for malt whisky drinkers but even for the uninitiated, a distillery tour will bring alive the heritage and flavours of malt whisky. In fact there are more distilleries in Speyside than in any other of the whisky producing regions.
